At Sandville Self Help Foundation, we understand how important it is for families living with life limiting conditions to spend quality time together in a relaxed, supportive environment. Our specially refurbished Log Cabin offers just that, a peaceful holiday space for individuals of any age who have a limited life expectancy, and the people who care for and love them.
Whether it’s a child, young person, or adult, our log cabin provides a safe and accessible space for families to rest, reconnect, and make cherished memories, away from the routines of medical appointments and care demands.
A Special Place for Special Moments
Nestled in a quiet and beautiful setting alongside the Coastline of Porthcawl, the Log Cabin is fully equipped with comfort in mind. It includes:
- Wheelchair-accessible entrance
- Comfortable family living and dining space
- 2 bedrooms
- An outdoor veranda for relaxing
- Nearby nature and coastal walks, access to Porthcawl town and peaceful surroundings
The Log Cabin offers privacy and tranquility, while still being on the grounds of Sandville Self Help Foundation and accessible to essential services should they be needed.
Confirmation of a Booking is dependent on the completion of the Log Cabin Agreement and Terms & Conditions of Booking form.
Who Can Stay
The Log Cabin is available to individuals (children or adults) with a diagnosed life limiting or terminal condition, along with their close family or carers. We welcome people of all backgrounds and circumstances, and our aim is to provide a safe and supportive space to take a well-earned break and to make memories.
Health & Safety Guidelines
To keep everyone safe and ensure the Log Cabin is a place of comfort for all, we ask guests to follow a few important guidelines:
- At least one adult guest must be available to provide care and support as needed
- Guests must bring any required medication, equipment, or care supplies which can be stored in a locked cabinet
- Smoking is not permitted inside the cabin or on the grounds of Sandville Self Help Foundation
- No pets are allowed, unless registered assistance animals
- Please leave the Log Cabin clean and report any damages or maintenance needs
- Emergency contact details and medical instructions should be provided on applying
- Fire safety, First Aid and accessibility procedures will be clearly outlined on arrival
A full welcome and safety pack will be provided to all guests.

We operate a booking system to ensure fair access for families who need time away. Stays are offered for up to 1 week, and priority may be given to those at a particularly advanced stage of illness or families who have not previously stayed.
