Kate Floyd – Health & Wellbeing Instructor

I am a dedicated and compassionate healthcare professional with a First Class Honours BSc degree in Sports & Exercise Science and a qualified Level 2 Gym Instructor. In 2025, I was appointed to my current role of Health & Wellbeing Instructor funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, allowing me to continue my work and passion supporting individuals with life limiting and life changing conditions.

Throughout my academic journey, I gained valuable experience in both clinical and community settings. To enhance my studies, I undertook work experience in a cardiovascular surgical department, general surgery, physiotherapy department, heart failure clinics, and a GP surgery. These placements provided me with insight into patient care across various healthcare environments. I also worked closely with a university lecturer on research involving individuals who had experienced strokes, and I contributed to a podcast by interviewing stroke patients and their families to help raise awareness and understanding.

In addition to my clinical experience, I have been involved in volunteer work, including time spent in a care home and participating in a befriending phone call service for individuals experiencing loneliness. These opportunities allowed me to build strong interpersonal skills and a deep sense of empathy.

I am passionate about working in the charity sector, where I find helping and supporting others to be an incredibly rewarding and fulfilling role. I am committed to continuing my development and expanding my knowledge in supporting those facing challenging health conditions, while also using my background in exercise science and fitness to promote well-being and rehabilitation.
